Financial Aid

Consortium Agreement

A consortium agreement is a written agreement between two eligible schools for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the student.

NIU will enter into Consortium Agreements for NIU students enrolled in the NIU Study Abroad Program. NIU students who are enrolled in a study abroad program at another institution should contact the study abroad offices at both schools.

Typically, we do not enter into consortium agreements for NIU students who are enrolled for summer semester at another institution who will be returning to NIU in the fall.

All other NIU students should complete the NIU Consortium Agreement Form. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.

Plan Ahead -Consortium agreements take several weeks to process. Make sure to complete all the sections on the form and submit it to the Student Financial Aid Office as early as possible. Incomplete forms will be returned to the student and will delay your financial aid.

Study abroad students - All study abroad students, except NIU College of Law, should contact the International Programs Business Manager at:

NIU Study Abroad Office
