When do I apply for financial aid?
You should apply for financial aid as soon as you file your Federal Tax Returns each year. The best and earliest time to do this is in January and February. NIU has a priority application date of March 1. Students who apply by March 1 will have their aid processed first.
If I don't apply by March 1 can I still apply?
Students can apply for financial aid throughout the academic year until July. Check the FAFSA for specific dates. Some funds run out quickly, so it is important to apply as early as possible.
