Financial Aid News and Updates
- New Summer hours!
- Direct PLUS application processing will begin June 1, 2008.
- NIU will process Stafford, PLUS and alternative loans from any lender of your choice until the end of the summer 2008 semester.
- Beginning with the Fall 2008 semester NIU will participate in the Direct Lending Program. All students who will borrow a Federal Direct Stafford Loan for the fall 2008 and/or spring 2009 semesters and who previously borrowed their Stafford Loan through a lender under the Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP) will need to complete a new promissory note (MPN).
- Important Notice: As of 4/1/08 TCF Bank and the National Bank & Trust of Sycamore will no longer be participating in the Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP). If a student is eligible for a summer 2008 student loan, they will need to choose a different lender code and will need to complete a new promissory note.
- Student Financial Aid Office (SFAO) at NIU to implement new student information system-People Soft February, 18, 2008.
